The arriving of winter

14 November 2025, emergency call[1] on the fediverse!

The situation of November 2025

As a reminder, 92%[2] of house in Gaza have been detroyed or damaged by the Israeli armed forces. The consequences are majority of Palestinian live in homeless shelters. The best protected lots from the wind –which are not in seaside– are rented for around $500. Shelters and equipments providers for living in winter by NGOs are currently blocked[3]. People are doing with what is remaining in the markets which are sold at a high price. Palestinian in the fediverse have no any income which could help them to cover their life costs. It’s the 3rd winter they are living in homeless shelters.

The climate

During summer, temperature can reach 38°C and many insects are proliferating because by a disastrous health situation. The winter is rainy and windy, and equipements designed for the summer –some of which are not waterproof– are completely ineffective during this season. Violent storms punctuate a cold and wet winter which prevents clothes from drying properly.

The needs

Here we have bare minimum list they need. With home destroyed and emergency displacement, “warm” equipments they may have had been lost. Their tent is worn out and no longer waterproof. The only solution is to buy the equipment again.

Palestinian families on the fediverse who are particurarly suffering from the arrival of winter.

Only direct donations allowing them to buy what they need will allow them to pass this new trial. Mitqual taken his time to share his situation. You can help him by donating to him and his family.

"It’s like the life is against us. Everything is flooded. Few tents and warm clothes we have for the winter, everything is gone. I’m tired of all this. My mind is at the end of my tether. I think my mind is letting me down. I’m overwhelmed by all of this. I want to cry. It’s unbearable."

-- Khaled

"Today, we drowned and cried in despair while trying to protect and save ourselves from drowning within our tent. My family… is drowning."

-- Rania

"Yesterday I was tired from begging for help that doesn’t come, nothing has changed, we still haven’t receveid urgent donations we desperately need to survive. 💔 It is as if all compassion has disappeared from all hearts. We drown in fear, pain and cold nights. Please hear our screams before everything collapses. We are slowly dying. 💔"

Firstly, we didn't know if this would affect you, but it's clear that you played along, and for that we thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

Thanks to @fabio, who set up an API[4] that queries the donation pages, it is possible to see the overall progress of the funds involved in the winter emergency appeal. Of course, it is not possible to distinguish exactly which donations were made during the emergency appeal, but it gives us a good idea.

Based on an average of €150 in donations per day before the appeal, we can estimate that around €2,000 has been raised since the appeal was launched.

Your efforts have been remarkable, and we thank you for that!

However, we are only averaging around €150 per family, which is unfortunately not enough for them to endure these winter conditions. We are also seeing a drastic drop in engagement today.

That is why I am asking you to continue sharing this message of support for the winter.

Thank you!
